Sky
Sky loves competitive sailing and is captain of the DP sailing team. In college, she wants to major in computer science and become an awesome college sailor. Also a member of Kids Speaking Up, Sky wants to protect the environment and end poverty. She is on the programming and web team for robotics and is very excited to build a robot and have a great team experience.

Jenna
Jenna has been thoroughly interested in Robotics since she recieved a Lego Robotics kit in late elementary school. In college, she aspires to major in Mechanical Engineering. This year, she is a member of the Historian group and will be on the Mechanical team with an emphasis on machining during the build season. Jenna is also the Drum Major of the DP Marching Band, and in her spare time can be found playing flute or piano, singing, and watching the Food Network. |
Katherine
Katherine has wanted to be an engineer and attend Cal Poly San Luis Obispo since she was a Girl Scout in fourth grade, and she knew that she wanted to be a part of the Engineering Academy since she was aware of its existence. She will be working on the electrical aspects of the robot as a part of the electrical team and an aspiring electical engineer. She is also an avid member of the DP Marching Band, and currently plays the flute and piccolo. A musical goal that she wishes to achieve is to be able to play a note on the piccolo that does not exist on a piano. Outside of academic activities, Katherine enjoys reading, playing video games, listening to music, and sleeping.

Kimmy
Kimmy, aka Monkey, is a climbing fanatic whom you should not give sugar to. Her religion is Christianity, and she can be shy or very outgoing. She is a nerd and bookworm at heart who enjoys almost all subjects. She loves different cultures and plans on saving the world, or making history, one way or another.This year Kimmy is a co-lead for the Accounting and Document Control groups, on Solid Works and the electrical team. She hopes to go to the Championships and improve her understanding of physics. |
Jack
Jack is a member of the graphics and Solidworks teams. Ever since he was a kid he has been taking apart things and figuring out how to put them back together. After high school, he aspires to be a mechanical engineer and help find another way to harness renewable energy. When not in school he takes part in SCUBA diving, freediving, and surfing.

Alexis
Alexis loves to volunteer, work and practice the cello when she is not helping write grants and machine parts for the Robotics team. An optimistic and energetic person, you will never see her sit down when there is work to be done. Alexis thinks best when she is hiking and allows her mind to wander. Often her best ideas manifest when she hikes up her favorite trail, the Gaviota Mountain Trail. |
Anina
As part of the SolidWorks Seven x 2, Anina hopes to combine her love of math and science with her knack for aesthetics to design and build an amazing robot this upcoming season. On the team, she is a part of Public Relations, Interviews, and Human Resources. In her spare time, Anina likes hanging out with her friends and family, taking snowboarding trips during the winter, and watching The O.C. After high school, Anina hopes to study mechanical engineering at a major UC school.

Bryan
Bryan is part of the web design and programming team. He is also Lt. Colonel of the Schlepping team. When he is not in robotics he spends his time playing guitar, snowboarding, or working on his car. |
Anjali
Anjali is so thrilled for Robotics season! She is working on getting more apparel for the Academy to continue the"brand identification" process. She is also happy to make people smile on their birthdays by providing them with a treat of their choice. It is also fun for her to participate in the presentations that the team gives to community members. During build season, Anjali hopes to spend much time in the machine shop. When Anjali is not being a nerd amongst all the others, she is being a Theatre Geek. She loves to sing and is involved in a number of school productions. Anjali would like to keep both engineering and theatre in her life as she ventures on to college.

Casey is an awsome person who enjoys soccer, skimboarding, and "The Office" in his free time. This year in robotics Casey will be machining and helping the graphics team. |
Ellen
Ellen is on this year's programming team, and can't wait to start writing code for the 2010 robot. Apart from being in the Engineering Academy, Ellen loves playing the piano, eating chocolate and ice cream, and watching romantic movies. She wholeheartedly believes that Chopin is the greatest genius ever to walk this planet.

Matthew (Matt) is a member of both the Historian and SolidWorks groups and is looking forward to a tough and rewarding season of Robotics. Outside of school he enjoys interning in computer drafting at a local firm, hanging out with friends, and snowboarding on the breaks. He hopes to attend college in California and major in mechanical or aerospace engineering, then possibly study abroad in a place an hour from both the beach and the snow (if such a place exists). |
Cliff
Cliff enjoys playing pretty much any sport, especially soccer. He is also a captain on DP's track and field team. He also loves music and just hanging out. For robotics Cliff is part of the Graphics and Solid Works teams and is looking forward to an awesome year on robotics.

Oriane
Oriane is a member of Human Resources and the Machining team and is excited to be a senior so she can participate in Robotics! She enjoys giving presentations about the Academy and she is also captain of the DPHS Girls Varsity Tennis Team. She plans to attend college with a major in biomedical engineering. Outside of school, Oriane loves to spend time with friends, travel the world, listen to music, and make the most of life in Santa Barbara before she leaves for college. |
Chris
Chris is a member of the programming team on this year's Robotics team. He enjoys the simple things in life: reading, drawing, surfing(the internet), playing video games and hanging out with friends are among his favorite pastimes--it's better than it sounds, believe him. Background information aside, Chris is excited about Robotics this year!

Kevin
Kevin is a part of the Events Team for Robotics this year. He loves traveling, hanging out with friends, and watching reality television. On Team 1717, Kevin is best known for his unique laugh.

Da-Bin
Da-Bin is an active DP student who has been part of the Science Quiz Bowl team and Capital Markets Contest team - winning Regional competitions in both - as well leading numerous clubs, such as Science Bowl, American Red Cross, and National Honors Society. She loves playing Tennis doubles with her one and only sister, playing the piano by ear, and answering Chemistry quiz bowl questions. She hopes to find out her passions in the broad field of engineering through the Robotics experience.

Nicole
Nicole is extremely excited to be on the DPEA Robotics Team and cannot wait until build season starts! Pre-build season, she is on the special projects group and works with the writing/grants group. During Robotics season, she will be a part of the SolidWorks group to design and CAD up the AWESOME robot that Team 1717 will build. She is looking forward to getting little sleep, bonding with her teammates, and accomplishing the impossible. Outside of Robotics, Nicole is vice president of the Humanitarian Club, and she enjoys hiking, reading and swimming. She wants to become a Materials Scientist to design products that positively impact humanity. |
Eric
Eric was born in San Diego, California before moving to New Mexico, then to Utah in 2000 and finally to Santa Barbara in 2002. He enjoys playing guitar, watching and playing sports, and fishing, as well at traveling and has been to Alaska, England, Australia, Germany, and France to name a few places. Eric is part of the Web Design and Programming teams and is currently working on redesigning the website, as well as learning how to program last years' robot.

Andy
Andy grew up in Hong Kong and Spain before moving to Santa Barbara. He loves to travel and this winter, he will be traveling to his 30th country. Andy plays many sports and is the captain on the Varsity Tennis Team. For Robotics, Andy is the head scout and will also be designing and machining the robot. Welcome to Atlanta!

Rashi
Rashi is excited to finally be a member of Team 1717! As a grant-writer and machinist, Rashi looks forward to building a robot that will leave her amazed by the end of her senior year. Outside of Robotics, Rashi is a pre-trial attorney on the Dos Pueblos Mock Trial Team, the president of the American Red Cross Club on campus, and the Commissioner of Public Relations in the Dos Pueblos High School Leadership Class of 2009-2010. She also loves to listen to Spanish music and stay on top of the latest fashion designs. |
Sam
Sam has been taking lessons in kung fu and guitar for years, and also enjoys writing short stories. He is an avid film and music lover as well. As part of the Engineering Academy, Sam is a member of the Graphics Team. He plans to one day major in creative writing.

Nicholas
Nick is the math fanatic of this year's robotics team. A lifelong resident of Goleta, Nick enjoys challenging his mind by participating in math competitions such as the USA Mathematics Talent Search, the USA Math Olympiad, and the American Regions Math League and hopes to apply these acquired skills as a member of the programming and web design groups this year. When not working on math problems, Nick likes to play various sports and ponder his place in the universe.

Hanna
Hanna is perpetually amused by the world around her and always wants to know the answer to the question “why?” She is having fun learning SolidWorks, and is partially looking forward to handling the massive amount of receipts that will undoubtedly flood in during the build season. She loves to sail and believes that the Robotics challenge this year should include mini-sailboats and an obstacle course complete with sharks and seaweed.

As a member of the Apparel team, Nicole is working to make sure that the DPEA is decked out from head to toe in Team 1717 gear. She is is looking forward to being part of the scouting team and also putting her newly acquired SolidWorks skills to use this season to design an amazing robot. Outside of robotics, Nicole is a member of the DP Varsity Dive Team and likes to spend most of her time hanging out with friends. When she has free time, she enjoys reading, catching up on sleep, and playing addicting games like Text Twist online. |
Helen
Helen is on the pre-build season historian team and the build season SolidWorks team. Outside of school, she runs cross country (yes, all three miles at once), and plays the viola in the Youth Symphony. In her free time, Helen enjoys reading, listening to music, and simply enjoying life and friends. She is looking forward to a great Robotics season come January.

Carly is tall, athletic, competitive, and plays a lot of volleyball. Some of her favorite activities are going to the beach, reading, and traveling. She is member of the events team and helps prepare and plan for any sort of scheduled event. Her goals for this robotics season are to have fun, build an awesome robot, and win. |
Sam
Samantha (Sam) likes to be active and competitive. She competes in track and field, but her favorite sport is volleyball. She also plays ping-pong. This year in Robotics she is on the Machining Team and the Apparel Team. Sam is looking forward to an exciting, fun, and crazy year!

Anjian
Anjian is excited to learn some engineering with such an awesome team this year! Aspiring to be multidisciplinary in the future, he is more-than-happy to juggle managing Team 1717’s Finances and being responsible for all-things Electronic. Anjian is also an “Economically Challenged” Science-Bowler who loved walking on the New York Stock Exchange Floor as much as listening to Secretary of Energy Steven Chu’s speech at Washington DC. In his spare time, he is an athlete on the tennis team, skateboarder, and musician. Anjian hopes to dive into the Green Technology scene after college.
