DPEA Art Teacher
Introducing DPEA art teacher, Mrs. Diana Hemsley
I grew up in Southern California. I graduated from Huntington Beach High School. I transferred to UCSB from Orange Coast College. I graduated from UCSB in 1991 with a BA in Studio Art and Chemistry. In 1998 I completed my Masters in Education at UCSB. I have been teaching art at Dos Pueblos High School since 1993. During that time I have taught Color and Design, Sculpture, AP Studio Art and Leadership. I have been involved at DP as advisor for the Art Club, Fishing Club, Local Color Magazine Club and Moto X Club. I love working at Dos Pueblos, and look forward to working with all of the new students and families entering the DPEA this year. I am excited about combining art and science, and I can’t wait to see what the students create. This is the part I love most of all about teaching. I love to see how young students solve problems and create unique artworks.
My personal interests include family time and many active sports. My husband Jeff and son Sunny enjoy camping, biking and most of all surfing. I have been surfing all my life and I am thrilled to see my young son now in the line-up. We love to travel and find new waves together. I also spend my free time creating art. I always seem to have a new project in the works. Being a part of the DPEA has been fun, creative and exciting. Every day brings a new adventure, which is what makes being a part of it so fun for me.
