Application OverviewThe Dos Pueblos Engineering Academy (DPEA) is a four-year academic program that is designed to give students a real-world, hands-on approach to learning. Education has become increasingly theoretical with little or no outlet to apply acquired knowledge. The DPEA strives to create a balance between theory and application. Students who graduate from our program are more qualified than their peers upon graduation and, as a result, have many more opportunities to participate in internships and research in both academia and industry while they attend college. Our students have the confidence to apply the knowledge and skills that they acquire to be successful in whatever field they choose to pursue. This program is structured to run like an engineering business. Therefore, we require all types of talents and skills to make this business run successfully. Although we do look for students who have experience with, and an interest in, science and technology, neither one is a prerequisite. Our ideal candidate is a highly motivated, self-starter who is infinitely curious and who has a love of learning. We encourage all qualified students to apply to the DPEA even if the word engineering sounds overwhelming. Our program is only as strong as the diversity of skills and interests that our students bring to it. Due to the increasing popularity of the Dos Pueblos Engineering Academy we have found it necessary to implement a formal application process, consisting of two components. The first is a written application and the second is an interview with our admissions committee. All students who meet the minimum math prerequisite of GATE Algebra will be considered for admission into the academy and will be interviewed. The dates, times and locations of these interviews change from year to year, and can be found here. |
